OL1: A Right to Roam, 2025 by Ruby Harrison

In 1932, a group of walkers stepped onto Kinder Scout in a defiant act of civil disobedience against the Enclosure Acts - an event that would reshape the cultural and legal landscape of the British countryside.

These photographs revisit the terrain where the Kinder Mass Trespass occurred, observing how the topography subtly holds traces of the freedom we now have to roam these landscapes.

Through photography, the aim is to invite the viewer to consider and appreciate our access to the countryside. The absence of people is intentional; it echoes the long-standing invisibility of those who pushed back against privatised space. In this quietness, the work finds its protest - not in confrontation, but in observation.

Still Life Sessions

Untutored Still Life drawing

Saturday 4 pm - 6.30 pm / Sunday 10.30 am - 1 pm

A monthly, untutored still-life drawing session for artists of all abilities.

Carve out a few hours to draw. Fire up your observation and drawing skills. Support your existing creative practice and create new habits.

A new still-life arrangement will be set up for you to draw each session.

Basic materials will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own.

Hot drinks and cake will be served midway.

6 places, £9 per person, per session.

Cancellations

We understand that circumstances may arise that could affect your ability to attend sessions.

Our venue is small, and many of our sessions sell out. For this reason, we kindly request that if you wish to cancel, please inform us at least 7 days in advance. This will allow us to offer your place to someone on our waiting list. Whilst we do not offer refunds, if we can fill your place, we will credit your payment towards another session.
